Pompton Lakes has water on nearly every side: the lake itself, the Ramapo and Wanaque rivers feeding it, and the Pompton River running out. That is a beautiful place to live and a demanding one to own a house in. Humidity coming off the water keeps siding, decks, and fences damp, and anything on the shaded side of a home picks up a green film within two or three seasons.
